Malvern Gas Lamps by Antony Bridge at 12:21 pm, Jan 11th 2010
Thanks for the comments Allan and Gary. The magic hour is always the best time but the most demanding, very much so in the UK. They do still have the gas lamps but only on the Wells Road now which is ashame, nice to see them in ' the Lion, the witch and the wardrobe' movie in the snow!

SHIFTING LIGHT by Allan Stone at 04:54 am, Jan 11th 2010
Yes, it is true that in nature the shifting light is no easy task to capture for to the plein aire painter... and especially as the light of day turns to dusk; and then to night. Well done, as your painting is both cheery and uplifting during these cold days.

THAT SPECIAL TIME by Gary Hiscott at 03:50 am, Jan 11th 2010
This is what I call the 'magic hour'. All through the year I just love that special time at the end of the day just as the last blackbird sings and in summer, the bats can be seen whizzing around your head. Something happens at this time to colour, especially blue. I always love adding street lights against the cold blue/violet. Do they still have the 'gas lamps' on the common in Malvern - that was one of my great joys in my childhood?
